Jim Leyland confirmed Sunday afternoon that Jacbob Turner will get his second career MLB start when the Tigers close out their four game series against the Kansas City Royals on Thursday.
Leyland is calling upon Turner to start in order give Justin Verlander and extra day’s rest so he can open up a weekend series against the Chicago White Sox.
Turner was very impressive in his first MLB start and is 1-0 with a 3.12 ERA in three starts for the Mud Hens. He has struck out 20 and walked just three in 17 1/3 innings.
