The Forte contract situation

Adam Hernandez by Adam Hernandez
September 11, 2011
in Chicago Bears, NFL

Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte wants a contract extension however prior to Sunday’s victory over the Atlanta Falcons, the Bears are only willing to go as high as $14-$15 million in guaranteed money. Because of this the two sides seem to be at a stalemate.

However, after Forte’s big day with the Bears against the Falcons has he proved to the front office in Chicago that he’s worth every penny?

Chicago QB Jay Cutler certainly thinks so…

“His (Forte’s) ability in this offense is endless,” Chicago quarterback Cutler told Fred Mitchell of the Chicago Tribune. “He’s such a smart player and he’s so versatile. This offense really can’t run without him back there- the way he is able to take screens, getting in the passing game and still run between the tackles. He’s a threat all over the field. There are not many running backs in the league that can do what he does.”

Forte finished against the Falcons with 158 total yards.
