Report: Lions Vets pushed for Berry’s release

According to CBS Sports, Aaron Berry’s latest arrest for brandishing a handgun over the weekend troubled Lions’ veteran players who became fed up with the team’s deteriorating reputation.

CBSSports.com’s Mike Freeman reports that “Lions brass consulted some veteran players in Lions locker room” about the decision to dump Berry. Lions players are, apparently, quite fed up with the way the team looks to the public.

“This s— has to stop,” one Lions player told CBSSports.com. “We’re becoming the laughing stock of not only the NFL but all of sports.”

Even though short term the Lions secondary may be hurt, it’s a good sign that the veterans are starting to have an active voice in the locker room. Hopefully this continues to lead to more accountability not only off the field but on the field as well.
