- After getting back on the practice field this week, the Lions are hoping that rookie DT Nick Fairley can play this weekend against the Dallas Cowboys. Adam Schefter of ESPN reported during halftime of ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” broadcast: “The Lions are hopeful that he can come back from the foot surgery that he underwent for a stress fracture. They’ll monitor him throughout the week and try to ease him back in on select passing downs.” Detroit Free Press
- Despite the amazing comeback by the Lions this past Sunday against the Vikings, there’s one potential glaring hole for the Lions and that’s the offensive line. QB Matthew Stafford was trucked at times by the Vikings defense and head coach Jim Schwartz knows that the o-line has to get better. “It’s good to be able to nitpick over things when you’re 3-0 and there’s points that you can make,” Schwartz said. “I think if you go down to our locker room after each of these three weeks there’s nobody that thought we played our best football yet.” Detroit Free Press
- After rushing for only 20 yards on 19 attempts, Chris McCosky of the Detroit News believes that the running game is the biggest problem for the Lions. This however may be a bigger flaw of the offensive line than the actual running backs. They do go hand in hand though.
- Jim Schwartz is worried that special teams player Isaiah Ekejiube could require more than just a few days off after suffering a shoulder injury Sunday against the Vikings. “He wasn’t able to finish with a shoulder, so that’s never a great sign,” Schwartz explained. “He’s going through testing and stuff today. Hopefully we’ll get some – I don’t want to say good news – but we’ll get some decent news with that.” Mlive
