Tom Izzo tells Dan Patrick that his NBA dreams are "dead"

Michigan State head basketball coach Tom Izzo appeared on the Dan Patrick Show Friday. While on the show Izzo touched on a number of subjects including his dreams of coaching in the NBA.
Here is the transcript courtesy of the Detroit News…
Patrick: “I don’t worry about you as much during the regular season — I expect you go to the Final Four.”

Izzo: “I don’t know if that’s true. Unfortunately, I think all the people here expect that, too. But we’re having a tough year. Shooting the ball has been the biggest issue we’ve had. And yet, I don’t think we’re off from where we need to be, but when you don’t make shots, it sure does look ugly and we have not made in a couple big games, Syracuse, Texas and of course Illinois, so those were three big games where we didn’t make shots and I’m sure a lot of it has to do with the teams we’re playing. But we played some real good teams early and shot the ball really well, so hopefully it’ll come back to us.”
Patrick: “What’s the last time you thought, ‘Maybe I should have taken the Cavs job.'”
Izzo: “(Laughing) Only when I go to the bank, that’s all. Other than that, I don’t do that.”
Patrick then asked how much of a pay jump the Cavs job would have been: “Double, that’s for sure,” Izzo said, laughing. “I’m happy where I’m at and sad for them, because it’s been a rough road for them.”
Asked how he is feeling, Izzo said winning would make him feel better.
“I’m doing all right,” Izzo said. “It’s never good when you’re not playing quite as well as you’d hope to. Been there, done that before, so you’ve just got to battle through it and hopefully find some positive things — we are getting better in some areas we weren’t as good at early. Unfortunately the one area we were good at early we’re not doing now, and that’s shooting the ball.”
Patrick asked Izzo if he cares about this weekend’s NFL conference title games.
“I was a Packer fan, I grew up 90 miles from Green Bay,” Izzo said. “I’ve got to go back to the Pack.”
Patrick: “Do you hate the Bears as much as Michigan?”
Izzo: “Oh, no, no, no.”
Patrick: “You hate Michigan more?”
Izzo: “Of course. You have to. That’s your rival.”
Patrick: “Do you hate Michigan?”
Izzo: “I respect them, but you can’t like them — they’re your rival.”
Patrick: “If your care broke down in Ann Arbor, would anyone help you?”
Izzo: “Well, probably not. I can’t see many people wanting to help me in Ann Arbor.”
Patrick: “What if Chris Webber’s car broke down in East Lansing?”
Izzo: “I’d help Chris, I always got along good with Chris. I recruited him a long time. I like Chris Webber, so …”
Patrick: “(Laughing) You didn’t offer him enough money, is that the reason why you lost him?”
Izzo: “(Laughing) I wasn’t making your kind of money then, so I had no choice.”
Patrick: “But the NBA’s dead (as a job destination for Izzo), right?”
Izzo: “The NBA’s dead. Hell, if I don’t start winning, Michigan State is going to be dead.”
