Lions DT Ndamukong Suh won’t be ticketed after recent car accident

According to a report by Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, Lions DT Ndamukong Suh will not be ticketed after a car accident that took place on the Southfield Freeway Thursday morning.

Dearborn Police released in the statement that fault couldn’t be determined and neither party would be issued citations.

“The investigation is closed,” the department said in a released statement. “It was a minor traffic accident in which fault cannot be determined and there will be no charges to either party.”

The other party involved was reportedly Stephen Vines, 43 of Livonia who accused Suh of sideswiping his 1999 Ford Escort about 6:20 AM Thursday on the Southfield Freeway as he was heading to work. Vines further stated that Suh became angry when he was followed by Vines to the Lions’ practice facility in Allen Park.

“What it comes down to is it was an arrogance thing, in my eyes,” Vines said Thursday. “It was just pure arrogance. ‘Get out of my way, or I’m going to make you move.’ And then, ‘I’m too good to sit here and wait. I’m going to leave, you guys can come find me.’”

Vines though insists he isn’t looking for a money grab and only wants an apology and his car to be fixed which he estimates to be between $500 and $2,000 dollars.

“Only because it’s front-wheel drive, and he smashed the front end — it’s making noises,” he said. “It’s, basically, from the driver’s side mirror forward, all caved in. The rim’s bent a little bit, my hubcap’s destroyed. I can take my hand and stick it between the front quarter panel and the door all the way down. I can make a fist in between there. It’s hard opening the door, of course. It now whistles when you’re driving.”

Suh hasn’t commented on the accident and refused to talk to reporters after practice on Thursday. The only thing he offered was this cryptic tweet on Twitter…

The off-the-field problems for Suh however keep on racking up. This latest incident involving an automobile was the third for Suh since he was drafted by the Lions in 2012. Back in 2010 he was involved in a two-car accident when a Honda Civic struck his Land Rover while driving through Royal Oak. Police in that case only ticketed the driver of the Civic. However last December Suh was involved in a much more public incident in his home state of Oregon when he lost control of his 1970 Chevrolet Coupe hitting a tree, a light pole and a drinking fountain.

Suh was eventually sued by one of the passengers in the car for $1 million dollars.
