The New York Mets are set to acquire right-handed starter Marcus Stroman from the Blue Jays (pending a medical review) according to Jon Morosi.

Heading to Toronto will be the Mets’ fourth and sixth best prospects in pitchers Anthony Kay and Simeon Woods Richardson.

Now, this is a pretty savvy move on the part of Mets GM Brodie Van Wagenen and probably pretty damn frustrating for teams like the Yankees and Braves who were in on Stroman and still in this year’s race for the postseason.

The Mets are more than likely out of any contention for the postseason this year. However, their front office is under the firm brief that they’ll be in contention in 2020 and beyond which prompted them to go after a controllable piece like Stroman.

It’s an aggressive move that you have to respect. Not to mention if this is a sign of things to come for the deadline, you better buckle up!
