Sunday the Lakers claimed Kostas Antetokounmpo — brother of NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo — off of waivers according to Shams Charania.

The deal is reportedly two-way Shams later tweeted and appears to be one of the final pieces to the 2019-20 Lakers roster.

A project player, Antetokounmpo averaged 1 point, 1 steal and .5 rebounds in just two games played with the Mavericks last season spending most of his time in the G-League with the Texas Legends. There Antetokounmpo averaged 10.6 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 2018-19.

Dallas head coach Rick Carlisle recently commented on Kostas saying he needed to develop a “consistent motor” much like his brother but has already made “significant improvements”.

Whether or not the Lakers are able to get that out of him is obviously still yet to be seen however his addition is clearly a low-risk move considering the two-way deal.
