Sunday the Lakers claimed Kostas Antetokounmpo โ€” brother of NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo โ€” off of waivers according to Shams Charania.

The deal is reportedly two-way Shams later tweeted and appears to be one of the final pieces to the 2019-20 Lakers roster.

A project player, Antetokounmpo averaged 1 point, 1 steal and .5 rebounds in just two games played with the Mavericks last season spending most of his time in the G-League with the Texas Legends. There Antetokounmpo averaged 10.6 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 2018-19.

Dallas head coach Rick Carlisle recently commented on Kostas saying he needed to develop a โ€œconsistent motorโ€ much like his brother but has already made โ€œsignificant improvementsโ€.

Whether or not the Lakers are able to get that out of him is obviously still yet to be seen however his addition is clearly a low-risk move considering the two-way deal.
