After a disappointing qualifying session, Lewis Hamilton made the most of the actual race itself when the Englishman won a record sixth British Grand Prix.

“I can’t tell you how proud I am to be here today in front of my home crowd and my family, too,” said Hamilton following his 80th career win.
“You would think you would get used to something like that but it feels like the first time.”
Taking advantage of the safety car to jump ahead of pole-sitter Valtteri Bottas, the 34-year-old Hamilton raced head to his seventh victory of the season (out of 10 total races) taking a 39-point lead on Bottas en route to what seems like a probably sixth World Championship.
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc managed to secure third place after an on-track incident that saw Sebastian Vettel crash into the back of Red Bull driver Max Verstappen.
Verstappen was on the more fortunate end of that collision finishing fifth — after taking a 10-second penalty for causing the collision — while Vettel dropped to 16th due to the damage sustained.
