Detroit

The Tigers are officially moving on from Josh Harrison the team announced today as they released the veteran infielder along with right-hander Sandy Baez. The team also made it official that they have promoted Edwin Jackson.

Harrison — who was signed as a free agent for $2 million this past offseason — has been on the shelf since May 27 with an injury and recently underwent surgery on a partially torn hamstring in June. His tenure with the Tigers mercifully ends after slashing 176/.219/.265 with one home run in 146 plate appearances in Detroit.

As for Baez, the 25-year-old at one time was the 13th ranked prospect in the Tigers system. He too has been battling injuries this season which doesn’t fare well when that goes hand-in-hand with a 7.36 ERA, 7.36 K/9 and 5.73 BB/9 in 22 Triple-A innings.
