Jordan Zimmerman makes a little MLB Opening Day History

Tigers starter Jordan Zimmermann had an absolute gem on Opening Day yesterday against the Toronto Blue Jays tossing 6.2 perfect innings. That was the most consecutive perfect innings tossed by a starter on Opening Day since Lefty Grove went 7.0 strong on April 16, 1940.

Of course, the big question when it comes to Zimmermann is what he does after May.

Franklin Perez will be out for a while

Tigers prospect Franklin Perez is expected to miss four to six weeks as he deals with shoulder tendonitis according to the team. The Tigers also noted that Perez is currently rehabbing down in Lakeland. Perez was the centerpiece for the Tigers in the Justin Verlander trade with the Astros.
