Padres second baseman Ian Kinsler has decided he’s had enough of playing baseball and will instead give the front office a whirl.

Friday, the veteran infielder announced his retirement after a 14-year career with five different teams including eight with the Texas Rangers. According to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal, Kinsler is going to reach a “financial settlement” with the Padres to come to terms with the $4.25 million remaining on a two-year deal with San Diego.

Meanwhile, Kinsler will join the Padres’ front office heading into next season.

“It just felt like this is the end, time to move on,” Kinsler said. “I gave it everything I had. It’s time to do something else.”

The four-time all-star and two-time gold glove winner finishes his career with a .269/.337/.440 slash line as well as a 2018 World Series title with the Red Sox.
