Lions

The Detroit Lions parted ways with former second round wide-out Ryan Broyles just two days after he asked Martin Mayhew for his release.

Broyles tweeted his appreciation to the Lions organization and the fans early Monday morning.

Having only caught 32 passes in 21 games for the Lions, Broyles’ football career in general has been hampered by injuries. Broyles tore his left ACL later in his college career that probably cost him a shot at a first round selection. Knee issues continued to plaque him in the NFL as he tore his right ACL last December on top of rupturing his Achilles in 2013.

LIONS RECEIVER RYAN BROYLES LIVES ON $60K A YEAR

Couple Broyles’ inability to stay healthy with the logjam at wide receiver and it wasn’t shocking to come to terms with Mayhew’s decision to let Broyles go. Not to mention chalk the former Sooner up as another second round bust for the Lions.
