Ndamukong Suh hires an agent

Liz Mullen of Sports Business Journal reports that Lions defensive tackle has hired CAA’s Jimmy Sexton to represent him during his upcoming contract negotiations.

Suh, who recently fired his previous representation was mulling over going into negotiations himself or according to rumors was going to go with Jay-Z and Roc Nation. Jay-Z though isn’t totally out of the picture for Suh who will still use Roc Nation for marketing deals.

Nonetheless this is initially good news for the Lions who can now engage themselves in contract extension talks with the highly talented defensive tackle who’s set to become one of richer players in the NFL. Ideally Mayhew and company would’ve liked to get Suh signed before the start of free agency this coming Tuesday to get that massive $22.4 million dollar cap number down for 2014 however that’s looking more and more unlikely.

CAA also represents Lions QB Matthew Stafford who the team successfully extended last year.
