WWE’s Jerry Lawler collapses ringside, taken to Montreal hospital

WWE legendary wrestler and commentator Jerry “The King” Lawler collapsed ringside during tonight’s live taping of Monday Night Raw from Montreal.

Lawler was headed back to the announcing table after competing in a tag match with fellow superstar Randy Orton. It was there that he collapsed out of his chair and was immediately tended to by doctors who administered CPR backstage.

Given the nature of the WWE and professional wrestling product, lead commentator Michael Cole had to continue to notify the audience that this was in fact real and not part of the show.

“This is not part of the show,” a somber Michael Cole, Lawler’s commentator announced shortly before 10:30 p.m. EST.

Lawler was taken to a Montreal area hospital where he was given oxygen but breathing on his own. Cole gave further updates during the broadcast that The King was responding to light and that his condition stabilized.

The show continued after the incident with Lawler but with no commentary.
