It was Albert Pujols night in Arlington.
The St. Louis slugger became only the third Major League player to hit three home runs in a World Series game as the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Texas Rangers 16-7 to take a 2-1 lead in the World Series. The two other players to do this were Reggie Jackson and Babe Ruth.
Pujols finished the night 5 for 6 with 6 RBIs and those 3 home runs.
Cardinals starter Kyle Lohse went three innings allowing 3 runs on 5 hits while walking 2 and striking out 3.
Rangers starter Matt Harrison went 3.2 innings allowing 5 runs on 6 hits while walking 1 and striking out 3.
The Cardinals are now in prime position to take this series if history has anything to say about Game 3’s in the World Series. The winner of Game 3 has gone on to win 10 of the past 11 times the series was tied at a game apiece.
