The Nets finally got their man yesterday swinging a massive four-team blockbuster that landed Brooklyn James Harden from the Houston Rockets reuniting him with his former Oklahoma City Thunder teammate Kevin Durant.
It was a move that was apparently “months” in the making according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski who explained the ins and outs of the deal on The Woj Pod saying “This was something Kevin Durant very much wanted,” adding “He and Harden started talking about this months ago.”
The official move announced yesterday was almost a formality when you consider this latest news plus Harden expressing his desire back in November for a trade to Brooklyn also reported by Woj at the time. Woj further noted and seemingly reaffirmed what he said on his podcast about Durant and Harden having discussions about the trade further adding Kyrie Irving also being involved in the talk.
Durant though denied these rumors back in early December:
I’m sure Durant is simply looking to avoid any tampering issues with the NBA, but nonetheless, you can certainly see why Durant wanted to get Harden to Brooklyn. During their time in OKC the duo combined for seven scoring titles, 18 All-Star selections, and two MVP awards. How that mixes with Kyrie Irving and whether there’s enough ball for everyone is still yet to be seen. This trio either goes on to win an NBA title or shit talks each other to the New York media as Steve Nash tears his hair out.
