Where will Chris Davis land?

dt_common_streams_StreamServer

Going into free agency at the age of 30 and leading major league baseball in home runs over the past three seasons with 126. Is Chris Davis is searching for a new home or could he stay in Baltimore?

Another thing to consider is what Chris Davis and super agent Scott Boras be looking for in a new contract? Boris is known for taking his time with his players and waiting it out for teams to throw a crazy amount of money at them. Don’t be shocked if Chris Davis lands a contract from somewhere between 4-5 years for $15 plus million per season.

Here are five teams that Chris Davis could land with:

1. Baltimore Orioles:

Current 1B: Ryan Flaherty, Christian Walker.

Baltimore is Chris Davis previous home for the last five seasons. Davis has hit 161-home runs and drove in 425 runs in five seasons. He has said he would like to stay in Baltimore and has currently been in talks about staying. But being a Scott Boras represented player, it’s going to be a while before a contract signing will happen.

2. St. Louis Cardinals:

Current 1B: Matt Adams, Brandon Moss, Stephen Piscotty.

The Cardinals weakest position is first base. They were hoping Matt Adams was going to be the solution there since they allowed Albert Pujols to walk in free agency and that decision has backfired. Matt Adams has shown the power that they were looking for but he just can’t stay healthy.

3. Colorado Rockies:

Current 1B: Ben Paulsen, Daniel Descalso, Kyle Parker.

Chris Davis is a long shot to land with the Colorado Rockies. We all know how well the ball travels at Coors Field and what could happen if Davis would sign here. Expect another 50-plus home run seasons to happen in the future.

Colorado has been in rebuild mode for years and bringing in a player like Chris Davis could help this team turn around. They do lack in starting pitching but that’s been a problem for the Rockies for years. Davis won’t help the starting pitching problem, but he sure will provide some major offense.

4. Seattle Mariners:

Current 1B: Mark Trumbo, Seth Smith, Jesus Montero.

With the Mariners trading Logan Morrison to the Tampa Bay Rays, it make Mark Trumbo as the lead dog at first base. Landing someone like Chris Davis would be a significant boost. That would give them the opportunity to split Davis and Trumbo at 1B and DH. Trumbo is not the greatest defender and Davis has shown a big boost in his defense over the past few seasons.

5. Houston Astros:

Current 1B: Chris Carter, Luis Valbuena, Marwin Gonzalez, Jon Singleton.

Chris Carter was the Astros full time first baseman in 2015. Looking at it, He’s a DH trying to play the field. That’s what the Astros had to do last season, they didn’t have a consistent player who could get the job done and keep a decent batting average on the offensive side. Chris Davis would bring in that guy that they need to give them a decent batting average and power to the middle of the line-up.
