With Michigan likely done recruiting in 2011 and over-committed in 2013, the Wolverines may elect to add one more player to their 2012 class.
If they do decide to do this, Dave Telep of ESPN Recruiting believes it comes down to two players in PF Mitch McGary (Chesterton, Ind./Brewster Academy) and SG Gary Harris (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern).
In terms of McGary, Joe Kaiser of ESPN points out a very interesting scenerio,
Most recruitniks consider Maryland and a slew of other major BCS conference teams as the programs to beat for the forward. However, according to Evan Daniels of Scout, Michigan could be the underestimated darkhorse; Daniels reveals that during the recruitment of Glenn Robinson III, the Michigan coaches built a good relationship with SYF Players’ AAU program (recent AAU team of the so-called ‘Baby Boilers’). Translation: don’t be surprised if the Wolverines make the list when McGary starts cutting teams.
Both players are top five recruits at their respective positions. However given the high demand of both positions, Michigan very well could be done recruiting for 2011, 2012 and 2013.
