Parker Meadows’ base hit in the 10th scoring Zach McKinstry from second sent the Tigers to a 3-2 win win over the Yankees in the Little League Classic from Williamsport, PA.
Leading up to the hit, Zach McKinstry made a beautiful slide into second, narrowly avoiding the tag during a steal. Then Yankees outfielder Jasson Domínguez hesitated on the throw home, allowing McKinstry to score from second and securing the win for Detroit.
Tigers starter Tarik Skubal allowed one run on three hits in six innings of work while striking out five. Marcus Stroman was equally as good also going six allowing no runs on four hits while also striking out five.
Perhaps the most encouraging aspect of tonight’s game though if you’re a Tigers fan was the lineup that got it done against the high-powered Yankees. Featuring the likes of Jace Jung, Colt Keith, Parker Meadows, and Riley Greene It makes you wonder what could be or what could’ve been possible this season if the Tigers opened up the checkbook just a little bit more.
Remember, it was a Jace Jung hit in the ninth that scored Keith to spark the Tigers’ comeback and send the game to extras.
