Washington ‘will’ release Robert Griffin III

RGIII

A day after losing to the Green Bay Packers 35-18, Washington looks ready to release their former No. 2 overall pick.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network it’s just a matter of time before Washington releases quarterback Robert Griffin III ending one of the biggest wasted era’s in DC football history.

The impending release of RGIII comes at no surprise considering the guy has been nothing but injury prone and has failed to acclimate himself to the NFL game. Since his rookie season, RGIII’s QBR has gone from a 75.6 to a 33.5 in nine games played last year. You add that to the emergence of Kirk Cousins in 2015 to Jay Gruden being in zero rush to get RGIII back from a concussion injury suffered during the preseason and you get where we’re at now.

Currently Griffin III has a year left that will pay out around $16.1 million before he becomes free agent in 2017.
