Indians starter Ubaldo Jimenez has been suspended for five games and fined an undisclosed amount for drilling former teammate Troy Tulowitzki during a spring training game Sunday.
The commissioners office had a pretty easy decision considering the obvious intentions of Jimenez after after Tulowitzki suggested he (Jimenez) shut-up about his less than joyful experience in Colorado.
“He needs to put an end to this. Go pitch and help his team. Now his team is questioning him.” Tulowitzki said.
After the game, Rockies manager Jim Tracy called Jimenez’s actions ‘gutless’ which is understandable considering this was only an exhibition game.
Despite the five-game suspension, Jimenez will more than likely only miss one start since Major League Baseball doesn’t suspend starting pitchers based on starts.
