The Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators already didn’t like each other heading into their first round match up but Sunday the rivalry and series intensified.
During the third period and with the Senators cruising to a 6-1 win and 2-1 series lead, an all out line brawl erupted between the two teams involving all ten skaters on the ice. By the time the dust settled 147 penalty minutes were handed out by the refs with both teams now preparing for Tuesday night.
In a way though this is what the playoffs are all about. Maybe not so much the fighting but what it so much represents… a rivalry, something that vastly missing in the NBA. Nonetheless that post series handshake is going to be another interesting watch between these two teams.
