VIDEO: Suspension coming for Zetterberg after hit Saturday night?

During the course of Detroit’s 3-2 shootout victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets, Red Wings forward Henrik Zetterberg was given his first major penalty and ejection of his career.

The boarding call against Zetterberg came in the third period when he was racing after the puck with Columbus’ Nikita Nikitin. As the play was taking place, Zetterberg appeared to put his hand on Nikitin’s back before Nikitin lost an edge and went hard into the boards.

Nikitin had to be helped off the ice and didn’t return while Zetterberg was given the five-minute penalty and a game misconduct.

Now Zetterberg must wait to see if he will be summoned before NHL head disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan and assessed any type of further punishment.

Zetterberg though certainly doesn’t have a reputation for being a dirty player in the league so it may be safe to assume he will get by without any further penalty.
