The Nashville Predators took a 1-0 series lead over the Detroit Red Wings after their 3-2 victory Wednesday night. The game was marred by Darren Helm getting his wrist sliced open, an onslaught of penalties and Nashville getting zero power play goals on six chances.
Towards the of the game though things really started to get nasty when Predators defensemen Shea Weber started smashing Red Wings forward Henrik Zetterberg’s head into the glass.
The big question now is whether or not Weber will get slapped with a suspension by player safety guru Brendan Shanahan. It seems pretty clear that Weber was intending to do what he did and given the stance the NHL has taken on player safety, especially head injuries you would have to think some type of punishment will be handed down.
It is the playoffs though so it’s going to be interesting to see how Shanahan handles this one.
