Red Wings goaltender Jonas Gustavsson (who’s had a pretty solid year thus far) made what very well could be the save of the year Saturday night in Toronto.
Against his former team, Gustavsson fell out of position while Maple Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf had a wide open net. However The Monster, Gustavsson was able to scramble back, put the paddle of his stick out and make a simply amazing save on his former team.
What makes matters even better though, the Wings went on to win the game 5-4 in the shootout, ending Detroit’s shootout drought which stretched 12 games.
