Tuesday night Phoenix Coyotes forward Raffi Torres laid out Chicago’s Marian Hossa with what could only be described as maybe the biggest cheap shot of what has become a very violent NHL playoffs.
From the video you can see Torres left his feet and put his shoulder into the jaw of Hossa who lay on the ice for several minutes before being taken off on a stretcher. Surprisingly enough Torres wasn’t issued a penalty on a play that could take Hossa out for the remainder of the playoffs.
As far as Torres goes, he’s a repeat offender and will probably have the book thrown at him by head league disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan.
And if he isn’t the NHL needs to take a serious at their stance on suspensions.
