It must be a tough year for White Sox announcer Hawk Harrelson who has had to see his beloved South Siders struggle mightily this year with a 32-42 record and last place in the AL Central.
Last night though Mr. Harrelson almost completely lost it (and probably did during the commercial break) during the 9th inning of the White Sox/Mets game from U.S. Cellular.
With two outs in the 9th, Gordon Beckham totally botched a Daniel Murphy pop-up that would’ve ended the game when he plowed into Conor Gillaspie who was making the call for the catch. With the botch the Mets were able to tie the game and send Harrelson into his trademark silence when the opposing teams scores only to erupt into a “ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!” as the half inning finally ended tied at 4.
Luckily though for Hawks own sanity (or whatever he has left of it) the White Sox were able to come away with a 5-4 win in the bottom of the 9th after a two-out RBI single from Alex Rios.
