VIDEO: Ducks retire Teemu Selanne’s number

Ducks raise Selanne's jersey up to the rafters

The Anaheim Ducks honored former player Teemu Selanne with a 90-minute ceremony tonight from the Honda Center while capping off the festivities by raising his number 8 to the arena rafters.

The Finish Flash played a total of 15 seasons in Anaheim after being traded from the old Winnepeg Jets back during the 1995-96 season. Selanne, who was originally upset with the deal, came to fit in very well with his new team becoming a staple on the offense after developing a strong chemistry with Paul Kariya.

After spending time with the San Jose Sharks and Colorado Avalanche (where he was reunited with Kariya for a season) Selanne returned to the Ducks for the 2005-06 season and went on to play 9 more seasons in Anaheim.
