In his final game and final at-bat at Yankees Stadium, Derek Jeter drove in the game-winning run against the Orioles in an ending that really couldn’t have been drawn up any better. The Captain finished his night going 2 for 5 which included an RBI double to deep left in the bottom of the first as the Yankees, who won’t be going to the postseason beat Baltimore 6-5 in front of a raucous and emotional Bronx crowd.
Last night’s walk-off for Jeter also marked the first time he’s done it since 2007, which is kind of surprising.
Derek Jeter hit a walk off single in his final at bat at Yankee Stadium. It was his first walk-off hit since 2007.

And finally here’s the call from Yankees play-by-play man John Sterling:
Jeter isn’t the greatest player in Major League history nor is he the greatest player in Yankee history. However that’s more a testament to the storied history of the Yankees organization and the unbelievable players to ever play for that team. Despite what you think of Jeter or the farewell tour this season you have to give a tip of the cap to one of the game’s great players which he undoutedly is. This is especially the case when you consider the world of sports we’re currently living in were Leagues continually deal with drug issues, child abusers, women beaters and the hope that everything just blows over. It was nice to have one of those feel good stories for a change.
