Nationals second baseman Asdrubal Cabrera was ejected in the bottom of the 10th inning after arguing balls and strikes with home plate umpire Vic Carapazza. Cabrera became heated after getting dealt three straight strikes after three straight balls. Visibly upset after the second strike high in the zone Cabrera took the next pitch in seemingly the same location for the third strike. From there Cabrera slammed his bat and helmet to the ground before being immediately thrown out.
Nats manager Matt Williams came out to defend Cabrera and was also ejected. This marked the first time since the 2005 NLCS that a manager and player were ejected in the same game (Jim Edmonds and manager Tony La Russa)
