ABC News recently obtained video showing the moments after Ray Rice KO’d his wife in an elevator last winter.
The video appears to show Rice and now wife Janay being placed in handcuffs and ushered into an elevator in an obvious emotional state. Additionally observers can also see Janay being questioned by security while receiving first aid, casino workers warning Rice to stay away from his then fiancée and both being led away by police.
Rice attempted to have the video suppressed in court which in turn became unsuccessful after the New Jersey Gaming Enforcement Division filed a FOIA request.
“This is a time of healing and he, quite naturally, doesn’t want another media showing of what must have been the worst event of his life,” Rice’s attorney, Peter Ginsberg, said Friday. “What the media ought to be focusing on is the issue of domestic violence and why the NFL never did anything to construct a personal conduct program that works and why the NFL ignored the issue of domestic violence.
“Showing yet another Ray Rice video is simply a distraction.”
Rice recently won an appeal to have his indefinite suspension overturned by the NFL freeing the running back to sign with any team in the League. Rice has also filed a grievance against his former team the Baltimore Ravens for wrongful termination.
