In the wake of Steve Sarkisian’s trouble with the bottle, USC has fired their head football coach according to a released statement by the school’s athletic director Pat Haden.

“After careful consideration of what is in the best interest of the university and our student-athletes, I have made the decision to terminate Steve Sarkisian, effective immediately.

“I want to thank Clay Helton for stepping into the interim head coach role, and I want to add how proud I am of our coaching staff and players and the way they are responding to this difficult situation.

“Through all of this we remain concerned for Steve and hope that it will give him the opportunity to focus on his personal well being.”

The termination isn’t surprising, especially as news began to surface that Sarkisian may have been coaching football games plastered which I’m sure isn’t the a benchmark that suppose to be set by a college football coach.
Having just coached 18 total games for the Trojans, football should be the least of Sarkisian’s concerns right now. Not only is this best for the school, but it’s best for Sarkisian who now has the opportunity to get himself healthy.
