Update on Lions QB Matthew Stafford

Many of you probably already know that Lions QB Matthew Stafford left today’s game against the Chicago Bears with a shoulder injury. This came after Bears DE Julius Peppers sacked him late in the first half driving his right shoulder into the ground and ending his day. Now any report coming out about Stafford right now is pure speculation considering the team hasn’t had the opportunity to get an MRI on Stafford’s shoulder. However, according to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com the early word coming out of the Lions camp is that Stafford can miss anywhere from 2-4 weeks to 4-6 weeks. If he was to miss 6 weeks he would miss games against the Eagles, Vikings, Packers, Rams, and Giants and come back after the teams bye week in week 7.
Now if you happened to catch SI.com’s Peter King on Football Night in America on NBC he mentioned that many within the organization strongly believe that Stafford suffered a second degree sprain on his shoulder and will be sidelined for a couple of weeks. Again, everything that anyone is saying right now is speculation. It is expected that Stafford will get an MRI tomorrow morning and we should know more about the status of his shoulder tomorrow afternoon.
