Tonight’s anticipated Wings lineup; Filppula out, Franzen possibly to center second line

Filppula was going to try and give it a go tonight when the Wings take on Calgary but according to Ansar Khan of Mlive.com, Filppula will now be held out with a sore groin.

It isn’t expected to be an injury that keeps Filppula out long but Wings coach Mike Babcock did mention that these types of injuries tend to linger around for a couple of weeks.

“It’s not a sharp pain or anything, it’s just kine of there,” Filppula said. “It’s frustrating, try to be smart and hope it doesn’t get any worse.’’

With Eaves coming back after missing three games with an infected elbow, Babcock was able to shift the lines around a bit during the morning skate. This included Johan Franzen moving from left wing to centering the second line.

According to Khan, Babcock isn’t set on his lines for tonight but he (Khan) anticipates the following to be the line combinations for tonight…

Bertuzzi-Zetterberg-Holmstrom
Hudler-Franzen-Eaves
Draper-Helm-Tatar
Miller-Abdelkader-Mursak

Lidstrom-Stuart
Ericsson-Rafalski
Kronwall-Salei
Kindl (scratched)

Howard (starting)
Osgood
