We knew some kind of punishment was coming and today the NFL dropped the hammer.
Wednesday it was announced by the league that Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin would be fined $100,000 dollars for a sideline incident on Thanksgiving in which he almost stepped right in front of Ravens kick returner Jacoby Jones. The incident which didn’t draw a flag looked to force Jones into Pittsburgh defenders ending any chance he had into returning the kick for a touchdown.
The fine though may not be the end of it for Tomlin and the Steelers.
In addition to the massive financial penalty the NFL may strip the Steelers of a draft pick once the order for 2014 has been set. Here’s what the league’s release states:
“in addition, because the conduct affected a play on the field, a modification or forfeiture of draft choices will be considered after the final order of the 2014 draft has been determined.”
