If Tebow was ever going to get traded, it wouldn’t really be complete without some sort of controversy that would generate even more media attention to it.
And that’s exactly what we got.
Earlier today it was announced that the Denver Broncos would trade Tebow to the New York Jets for a fifth round draft pick. However Adam Schefter of ESPN.com reported that the two teams were hung up on who would pay $5 million dollars of Tebow’s contract. At this point it looked like the trade would be nullified and the Jacksonville Jaguars would get in on the Tebow sweepstakes.
However in the end the Broncos and Jets were able to work out the deal that eventually came to New York acquiring Tebow and a 7th round pick for a 4th and 6th round pick. The two teams would also split the $5 million dollars that was originally in dispute.
