After a 1-4 road trip the Tigers are back home and back to American League baseball when they take on the surprising Tampa Bay Rays tonight from Comerica Park.
Tonight’s probables include lefty Phil Coke (1-5, 3.88 ERA) for the Tigers while the Rays will counter with RHP Jeremy Hellickson (5-2, 3.18 ERA).
Tigers’ shortstop Jhonny Peralta and catcher/designated hitter Victor Martinez will also try to stay hot. Peralta is sporting a .321 average and is 69-for-215 with 10 home runs and 36 RBIs in 58 games against the Rays.
According to Chris Iott of Mlive.com, Victor Martinez is hitting .384 (86-for-224) with 14 doubles, eight home runs and 41 RBIs in 56 career games against the Rays. His .384 average is the tops among all active major league players vs. Tampa Bay.
