Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence in Florida back in February of 2011.
Cabrera’s case was set to go to trial with jury selection beginning on January 9th. However Cabrera reportedly wanted to have his legal troubles put behind him, especially with spring training just around the corner.
As part of the accepted plea by prosecutors, Cabrera will serve one year of probation, 50 hours of community service, a $500 dollar fine and have his driver’s license suspended for six months.
A second charge of resisting arrest was dropped and a charge of open intoxicants in a vehicle were dismissed.
