Detroit

Sunday, the Tigers reinstated outfielder Riley Greene off the 10-day IL making him available as the 27th man for tonight’s Little League Classic in Williamsport against the Yankees.

Greene, who hasn’t played since July 25 after stuffing a hamstring injury, will be immediately available tonight for Detroit without the team needing to make any corresponding moves due to the 27th-man rule, however, the front office will need to do so before taking on the Cubs in Chicago on Tuesday.

In his third season with the Tigers, Greene has slashed .264/.357/.485 with 17 home runs over 427 PA.

Meanwhile, Gio Urshela who was DFA’d late last week cleared outright waivers and has been placed on outright waivers. If and when the 32-year-old veteran clears release waivers he’ll be free to sign with any team for a pro-rated portion of the MLB minimum.
