Tigers’ all-star infielder Gleyber Torres exited tonight’s game against the Guardians after a scary collision at second base.
The play occurred at the top of the first inning when Torres was advancing to second base. However, the relay throw from Angel Martinez went offline and took Guardians’ shortstop Brayan Rocchio into Torres.
Torres would lie on the ground for a few minutes as he was tended to by the Tigers’ training staff before he ultimately left the game with what would later be described as a “neck contusion” according to the team.
Trey Sweeney would eventually come in for Torres while Javier Báez moved over to second base.
