Tigers could be eyeing Ubaldo Jimenez

According to a tweet by FoxSports’ Jon Paul Morosi, the Tigers had scouts in attendance during Thursday night’s 12-3 Rockies win over the Milwaukee Brewers.

Tracy Ringolsby, a collegue of Morosi also confirmed that there were 17 scouts on hand during Thursday night’s game meaning that the Tigers probably weren’t the only team represented.

MotorCityBengals.com believes that Jimenez may not be the only player the Tigers are scouting since thirdbasemen Ian Stewart and Ty Wigginton could have easily been on their radar themselves.

Judging from reports the past few weeks on the Tigers putting a precedent on starting pitching first, Jimenez seems like the bigger reason why the Tigers would’ve had scouts in attendance.

Last season Jimenez was the talk of the MLB the first half of the season compiling 15 wins before the All-Star break. He ended up tailing off the second half of the season but still finished with a very impressive 19-8 record with a 2.88 ERA.

This season has been a bit of a struggle for Jimenez. He currently has a 5-8 record with a 4.08 ERA, the highest since becoming a full-time member of the Rookies’ rotation in 2008.
