The Detroit Tigers have found some life during the final weeks of the season.
Detroit enters tonight’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays riding a five-game winning streak. The Tigers will send Drew Anderson to the mound as they try to secure the series victory at Rogers Centre.

Detroit’s Young Hitters Lead Another Comeback
Monday night’s series opener tested Detroit’s patience.

Dillon Dingler opened the scoring with an RBI single before Max Clark drove in two runs with a double. Spencer Torkelson followed with another RBI double, giving Detroit a 4-2 lead.
Toronto answered with Kazuma Okamoto’s three-run homer, but the Tigers responded again. Brett Callahan tied the game in the eighth, and Zach McKinstry scored the winning run following a Toronto error in the ninth.
Kenley Jansen protected the 6-5 lead and earned his 20th save of the season.
Detroit improved to 71-79 with the victory.
Drew Anderson Gets the Start
Drew Anderson enters tonight with a 4-6 record, 3.80 ERA and 1.31 WHIP. He has recorded 105 strikeouts across 97 innings while working as both a starter and reliever.
The right-hander owns a 2.97 ERA over his past seven appearances.
Anderson allowed three runs on four hits over 5⅓ innings against Minnesota in his previous start. He struck out four and issued three walks in the 3-2 loss.
Detroit needed more than six innings from its bullpen Monday after Troy Melton exited during the third. A longer outing from Anderson would help protect a relief group facing another close game.
Braydon Fisher Starts for Toronto
Braydon Fisher will start for the Blue Jays.
Fisher enters with a 3-4 record, 3.22 ERA and 1.22 WHIP across 72⅔ innings. He has struck out 72 batters while allowing eight home runs.
Detroit’s offense will need to carry Monday’s late-inning approach into the early stages tonight. The Tigers went hitless through six innings before stringing together disciplined at-bats and hard contact.
Young Tigers Continue to Produce
Detroit’s winning streak has featured important contributions from its younger hitters.
Clark delivered the biggest hit Monday with his two-run double. Kevin McGonigle finished with three hits, while Callahan supplied the game-tying single.
The Tigers have won five consecutive games against Minnesota, Colorado and Toronto. Their offense scored at least six runs in each victory.
Riley Greene continues to anchor the lineup with a .284 batting average, .371 on-base percentage and .483 slugging percentage.
Three Things to Watch Tonight
Anderson’s command: Anderson walked three batters during his previous start. Limiting free passes becomes more important against a Toronto lineup fighting for a Wild Card position.
Detroit’s bullpen: Melton recorded only eight outs Monday, forcing the bullpen to cover the rest of the game. Anderson giving Detroit five or six competitive innings would provide needed relief.
The young lineup: Clark, McGonigle and Callahan delivered in key situations during the opener. Another productive night from Detroit’s young hitters would give the Tigers a strong chance to extend the streak.
