Last week news broke that Tigers assistant GM Sam Menzin had left the team leaving the baseball world to wonder why. Was there a rift between Scott Harris and Menzin over the teamโ€™s direction? Were disagreements with ownership over the team somewhat stagnant during the offseason when it came to bringing in new talent after an excellent second half of 2024?

Wellโ€ฆ Monday Tigers fans got their answers.

According to The Athletic, Menzin resigned after three women came forward accusing the baseball executive of sending them pictures of his genitals dating back to 2017. Two of those women worked for the Tigers with the other working for another MLB team.

After learning of the lewd photos allegedly sent by Menzin via Snapchat which automatically get deleted after theyโ€™re viewed the Tigers were ready to fire Menzin before he ultimately resigned.

โ€œThis type of behavior is contrary to our standards and has absolutely no place within our organization. We have a positive and safe culture for our colleagues and will continue to emphasize respect, inclusion, and professionalism.โ€

One of the women who came forward explained that the reason it took time for her to come forward was Menzinโ€™s status in Major League Baseball and her fear of not being believed.

โ€œItโ€™s like no one says anything because who is going to believe them when they say Sam Menzin did this? Itโ€™s not like a bat boy or security guard. Itโ€™s Sam Menzin.โ€

Menzin, who hasnโ€™t publicly commented on the allegations brought against him, joined the Tigers back in 2012 as a baseball operations intern. He eventually climbed the corporate later becoming the director of baseball operations and pro scouting in 2019 and eventually the assistant GM in 2021.
