Are the Tigers and Cubs making progress on a deal that would send the 28-year-old righty to the Tigers?
According to Ben Nicholson-Smith of MLBTradeRumors.com (via David Kaplan of CSNChicago.com), the two teams are “down the road” in talks that would land the Tigers Garza for a package of prospects. Like always, the Tigers seem to be competing with the New York Yankees in the deal however despite New York’s “tremendous” interest in Garza, they seem unwilling to meet Chicago’s demands.
The prospects that would like go the other way int he deal would be highly regarded so you could expect guys like Andy Oliver, Casey Crosby and perhaps Nick Castellanos to be discussed.
But what about the Tigers’ top prospect in Jacob Turner?
Last week, Tigers GM Dave Dombrowski said that the highly talented right-handed Turner wasn’t on the trading block. However you’d had to believe that Turner’s name will come up in any deal for a Major League starter under the age of thirty.
