TIGERS ALCS: THE TIGERS’ SEASON COMES TO AN END AFTER 15-5 LOSS TO THE RANGERS

There’s that old cliché saying that all good things must come to an end.

This was the case for the 2011 Tigers season when it all came to an end Saturday night from Arlington. In Game 6 of the ALCS the Texas Rangers took advantage of an injured and tired Tigers team on their way to a 15-5 victory over Detroit.

The Rangers now head to the World Series for the second straight year.

For the Tigers, despite an early 2-0 victory the starting pitching and bullpen just didn’t have enough left in the tank.

Starter Max Scherzer only went 2.1 innings allowing 6 runs (all earned) on 5 hits while walking 4 and striking out 1. After that that bullpen blew up allowing 8 runs on 12 hits.

Miguel Cabrera, Austin Jackson and Jhonny Peralta each had home runs for the Tigers all coming off Rangers starter Derek Holland who continued to struggle against the Tigers.

The Rangers bats and bullpen proved however to be too much for the depleted Tigers.

Texas OF Nelson Cruz was named the ALCS MVP with 6 HRs and 13 RBIs.

There’s no denying though the fight the Tigers had this season and throughout the playoffs. Every Tigers fan in Detroit and around the World should be extremely proud of what the Tigers did this season. They should also be hopeful for the future as the Tigers will return a team that will be well equipped to defend their AL Central crown.

We’ll see you in February Tigers.
