If you’ve been browsing Twitter Saturday night you’ve probably come across some rumors that the Pistons have made an offer to the Thunder for Russell Westbrook.

The rumored offer included some combination of first-round picks as well as players like Tony Snell and Reggie Jackson. Also talked about was including the recent 15th overall selection Sekou Doumbouya.

It seems intriguing for both teams considering the Pistons wouldn’t be parting with any of their big two in Andre Drummond and Blake Griffin and the Thunder would continue to stockpile first-round picks.

However lets consider the source for these rumors.

The details surrounding these proposals are coming from a guy named Mohammed Haji on Twitter who dubs himself as a ‘beat writer for the Times’. I’ve never heard of this guy who also calls himself an ‘NBA Insider’ to go along with his ambiguous usage of the word ‘Times’.

Now I’m not saying the guy is wrong or completely full of shit. But come on, there’s some Detroit sites out there seemingly treating this guy’s info like it was dropped by Woj or Shams without presenting any kind of speculation whatsoever.

Could the Pistons be interested? Sure, on the onset who wouldn’t be? The assumption is everything that isn’t nailed down in OKC must go so why not make a phone call to see what the going rate for a guy like Westbrook is? I’m sure the Pistons probably made a couple of calls and like other NBA teams are looking for ways to make it work.

Don’t be making any wagers though on speculation like this. Simply have some fun with the thought that like a bunch of other teams in the NBA, the Pistons may be looking at what they can do to get in on the craziness that has been the NBA offseason thus far.
