The United States Women’s National Team continued to prove something today that we’ve already known before today and before the start of the World Cup. They’re the best fucking team on the planet.
With just the Netherlands standing in their way from a fourth World Cup title, the United States took down the Dutch 2-0 behind some familiar making an impact.
Megan Rapinoe, who’s been at odds with U.S. President Donald Trump in a very public social media feud opened things up in the 61st minute finding the back of the net as she made her way back into the starting lineup. Rising star Rose Lavelle then sealed the deal eight minutes later with a nasty left-footed strike sending the United States to global football supremacy once again.
And with four World Cups now under their belt with Rapinoe perhaps getting the last laugh here with some redemption against her critics, the ongoing debate over equal pay with the Men’s team who really doesn’t do shit on the World State continues.
