Detroit

The Tigers keep on upending their own incredible moments with even more incredible moments.

That came again today when Tigers outfielder Kerry Carpenter hit a three-run bomb in the ninth inning off the previously untouchable Emmanual Clase to send Detroit to a 3-0 win over the Guardians as the ALDS shifts to Detroit all tied up at a game-a-piece.

Clase, who’s been the centerpiece of a dominating Cleveland bullpen, had previously allowed just five earned runs over the course of six months during the regular season. Jeff Passan noted that Clase allowed three earned runs on one pitch with two outs and two strikes on Carpenter.

All of this came after Tigers ace Tarik Skubal threw another gem of three-hit baseball over seven innings while striking out eight while facing a pitching duel against his former teammate Matt Boyd.

It’s still crazy to think what we’re witnessing here. Especially after Tigers bats have gone cold the previous 16 innings yet come away with a 3-0 win and home field in the best-of-five against Cleveland. Skubal is still unhittable in the postseason as he had to of cemented his Cy Young this afternoon while Carpenter his the biggest postseason home run for Detroit since Magglio sent the Tigers to the World Series back in 2006.
